About
the Road to Romance...
The
Road to Romance has been online since 1998. The goal has always
been to
introduce new authors to readers, and new readers to authors.
In a
positive environment we aim to educate, entertain and support everyone who enjoys the romance and
women's fiction genres.
We're proud to have nurtured many
readers into being reviewers, and some reviewers into published authors!
But RTR's goal always has been and always will be introducing readers to
authors.
Several years ago we introduced a
new section to the site - the Erotica Corner. We met and worked
with many new and exciting authors through those years, and it was a
rewarding time. eBooks had finally cemented their place in
publishing and the erotic genre had blown out of the closet. It
gave up and coming authors, especially ones who wrote beyond the edge of
the envelope, a fabulous opportunity to be heard and ultimately
published.
It's now June 2007, and I'm
retiring from RTR. I'm handing the reigns to reviewers Kristy
Pelletier and Patsy Glans, but to keep the site a manageable size we
decided to eliminate the Erotica Corner. We'll miss the genre, but
it'll allow RTR to stay online with it's new owners and eventually
branch out into whatever Kristy and Patsy see as their horizon.
I'm pleased that so many of the
wonderful reviewers are staying with the site. It might be me
doing the typing , but it's their work you read each month. Their
reviews, their voices have shaped and defined RTR and it's their
opinions that you've come to value.
I wish Patsy and Kristy all the
best with RTR. It's a wonderful opportunity to learn and be
involved and I hope they get as much fulfillment from it as I have all
these years.

I admit it, I'm in love - with the written word!
What can I say? I've been an avid reader since
I was old enough to charge through my first book.
In grade school, I read ALL the books in the
tiny school library - I can remember that the
librarian said she'd have to get new books just
for me because I'd read every single one that she
had. And, it didn't stop there - my family
traveled a lot, so I read books in libraries all across the country: tiny,
one-room musty libraries where tattered copies of the classics were
all that was available; giant quiet-as-a-tomb libraries where there
was a new copy of every bestseller; laid-back, kid-friendly colorful
libraries and every sort of library in between.
Reading so much is probably what caused me to
want to write. My writing is as diverse as my reading: YA, Romance,
SF, Fantasy, Non-Fiction, Children's and anything else that strikes my
fancy. I love a good shape-shifter romance as much as I like an
informative non-fiction.
When I'm not reading or writing, I'm usually
working in front of a computer. My day job as a Computer Support
Specialist keeps me pretty busy fixing glitches, troubleshooting
software and instructing staff. And, if I ever manage to find any free
time that I'm not spending with my two lovely children, you'll find me
designing websites, creating custom graphics and taking digital
photographs."

Nancy Riggins-Hume: |
I grew up in Missouri, the daughter of an evangelist, and met a lot of
very interesting people along the way. I’ve been reading since
kindergarten when I demanded that my older siblings teach me how. I
was tired of being left out of the fascinating books. Growing up, I
read everything from Peanuts to Nancy Drew, to the Oz series, to the
Molly Brown series written in the early 1900’s. I fell in love with
Harlequin Romances, Victoria Holt, Phyllis Whitney, and Jane Austen,
then Rosemary Rogers as a teenager.
I moved to San Diego
after high school, and never left. I attended
San Diego
State University where I got both a BA and MSW. I resented college
because studying interfered with my true love of reading. I read many
genres these days including Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Romance in all
categories, Women’s Fiction, and Legal Suspense.
I live in a suburb of
San Diego, California,
and am the mom of two boys, two cats and a spoiled Bichon Frise. I’ve
been married to my husband John since August 1986. I work full time
as a case manager for an insurance company. I’m in process of writing
a contemporary romance, and maybe someday I’ll finish it.
I am thrilled to be reviewing for Road to Romance. I also review for
Romance and Friends and Denise’s Pieces websites. I recently began an
internship with
www.MamasHealth.com and at least one article by me is up
on the site.

A Canadian bookaholic, she started reading "grown-up" fantasy and science fiction books at 11 years old, and
progressed to romance books approximately two years later when she ran out of fantasy books to read. A
former English major, she has worked as a baby furniture salesperson, a bookseller, an editor, a
writer, a webmaster, and a public relations practitioner. She also probably owns enough books to open her own bookstore or library.

Eileen Key: |
I am a freelance writer with articles published in magazines and e-zines.
I write reviews for Dancingword.net as well as RTR. I love to read!
I am a member of
American Christian Romance Writers (ACRW),
American Christian Writers (ACW) and the
Association of Texas Professional Educators (ATPE), a volunteer
editor for new publisher
Moms in Print, a first-round judge of ACRW's Noble Theme Contest,
a recipient of the 2004 Excellence in Education Award, a contributor
to Heartcheck Alamo City Christian Fellowship, LookingUp magazine, and
Ruby e-zine. I am published in God's Way, God Allows U-Turns and
Prayers and Promises for the Military.
I retired from a thirty year career as a middle school English
teacher. Having survived twenty years of sixth graders is a feat of
its own. For six years, I was a partner in Keepers@Home, a
manufacturing company in San Antonio, Texas. We developed, produced,
and sold Christmas tree skirts, stockings, and linens. Our products
were sold in retail stores and on QVC.
As a single mother for fourteen years, I reared three wonderful
children. Our family learned the value of hard work and integrity.
Their accomplishments stem from diligence and perseverance. I take
neither credit nor blame, for they are now adults seeking God's wisdom
for their lives.

I have always loved history. My stories and many of my poems
have a Native American theme to them and I have a deep bond of
friendship to these people. Though I am not trying to rewrite
history, I feel the historical aspect adds more credibility
to my work.
I am currently working on the finishing touches of my third
book which is the last book of the Autumn Sky Series and will
be starting a new series in the beginning of next year.
I would like to publish a poetry anthology one day but for now
have many of my work on various Poetry sites.
I love doing book reviews and critiques for other authors,
there are so many talented writers out there.
I live in Westchester County NY with my husband of 21 years
Steven, our two children Daniel, 20 and Lara 18 and her white
Samoyed / Alaskan Sled Dog mix Brandee Girl Cherokee Dream.

attending college for the past 5 years or so and will continue towards
my goal in the next coming years. My goal will be to eventually go

My mission in
life is to follow the Lord’s will and look to Him for each and
everything He would like to use me for.

In real life I'm an RN and work night shift in a large hospital. I've
been there half my life now, and I'm getting the itch to do
something completely different, but I work with good people and we
laugh a lot so it's ok for now.
Like everyone else I love books, and 10 years ago that love
turned into Road to Romance. I'm happily retired from RTR now,
and enjoying the extra time reading, knitting and working in
the garden. But I'm quite sure all this extra time won't last
long as new adventures are just around the corner.
I've been married for 17 years to a wonderful man who's a
computer nerd by day and a Harley-riding karate black belt by night.
Our son is 11 and he's torn between being an architect when he grows
up, or being a Jedi/pirate and living in Neverland. It could
go either way.
