Adopted by a pack
of grey wolves when younger, red wolf Bella had never really felt part
of the group. Only Devlyn, the grey wolf who risked his life to save
hers, made the effort to make her feel special. From the first day, she
imagined what it would be like to be his mate. Only the pack leader had
other, more sinister plans for her. Instead of submitting like a good
female, Bella took her fate in her own hands and disappeared.
Devlyn searched
years for the elusive wolf that had captured his heart. When a nearby
zoo acquired a nearly extinct red wolf, Devyln's worse fears were
realized. No wolf can survive alone without capture. He needed to rescue
her before the full moon waned and left her to the mercy of the public
when she changed back into a human.
If trapped in a
cage wasn’t humiliating enough, Devlyn had to witness her shame. When
rescued, Bella had little time for a reunion with Devlyn. A killer was
stalking innocent women, and Bella couldn’t shake the suspicions that
the murderer was a shifter. And until they learn if the hunter was human
or not, they don’t dare leave. If the killer was one of their own and
became captured, their race would be discovered and hunted to
extinction. To find answers, they must dodge the zoo officials, a pack
of red shifters who want Bella for their own, a serial killer and worse
of all, a demon from their past –their pack leader.
The opening
quickly grabbed my attention, immediately drawing me into the story. I
could easily associate with Bella and her quest for freedom. The
conflict between the characters and the fast pace plot really drew me
into Bella and Devlyn’s lives. I love the adventure and the chase.
Unfortunately, the last half of the book had so many sex scenes; they
slowed down the plot and tension. Though I love that Devlyn wanted to
protect Bella, I didn’t connect with him as much as I hoped. If you want
a sexy adventure to steam up your weekends, you won’t regret picking up
a copy of ‘Heart of the Wolf’.
